Student Leaders – Jamal and Breana Harden

We are honored to serve as Student Leaders at City Church! While this is our first year in this leadership role, we’ve called City Church home for over five years and are passionate about investing in the next generation. Married since 2016 and raising two beautiful daughters, our lives are rooted in faith, family, and a deep desire to serve.

Between us, we have nearly eight years of experience mentoring and coaching youth through high school, football, and basketball. These roles have given us a front-row seat to the challenges teens face—and the power of consistent, Christ-centered guidance to make a lasting difference.

As a couple, we’ve always encouraged our daughters—and the students we’ve mentored—to pursue everything they do with hard work, determination, and dedication. Whether on the field, in school, or in their faith, we believe those values help build not just strong individuals, but strong disciples of Christ.

We believe the younger generation is not just the future of the Church—they are vital to the Kingdom right now. Our goal is to help students discover who they are in Christ, experience the love of Jesus in a personal way, and grow confident in the power they carry as believers.

We also know firsthand how hard life can be without God. That’s why we’re committed to being a steady light in the lives of our students—just as Matthew 5:14 calls us to be. We want every young person to know that no matter where they’ve come from or what they’re facing, there is hope, identity, and purpose in Jesus.

Our greatest desire is to help raise up bold, faith-filled leaders who will impact their schools, their communities, and their generation with the truth of God’s Word.

We’re excited to be a part of what God is doing through City Church, and we can’t wait to grow, serve, and lead together in this season.

The city of Lansing is filled with so much potential. Our mission is simply to love the youth to life and get them to start where Jesus finished. Our vision for the youth is that they would experience God’s love and amazing grace. We know this is just the beginning of what God is doing in this city, and we are excited to see what the future holds. Join us in the city every Wednesday at 7pm if your in grades 6-12.
